Looking for a bulkhead nut for my r&p steering system. All that held it to the helm bulkhead was a plastic collar that has detirorated beyond repair. The shaft if 12tpi but neither an 1 1/2 or 1 3/8 fine nut will fit, too big and too small. WTF do I have here, what is the thread style? I even went to home depot tonight and looked at plumbing fittings, electrical conduit fittings...stumped.

Unsure, there are no marks or part numbers anywhere on this stuff, i'm sure its all original to 1980-81 if that helps. Basically the rack is held to the bulkhead by two opposing bulk head nuts that grab the threaded sleeve the steering shaft runs through.

How about a pic of the whole steering box, please. Once we figure out what make of steering it is, you can call Glen @ 250-766-4878 to see if he has one:)

Lol Cturbo, Sorry I'm a partsman for Kenworth Trucks. I work with a great crew of guys who riff on stuff all day long, sometimes rubs off on my forums posts if I happen to post in between brake shoe and turbo sales!

Just got home from work, but I was at the boat wreckers today, he has the plastic nut/bezel. He wants $15. Call him at the #### I posted earlier.

Your steering rack is a Detmar brand, supposedly cannot get replacement cables for them anymore. I threw out one of those a couple years ago, and bought a no feedback rack...

Yeah I kind of figured you goofed, but I did get in contact! Could I impose on you to do the dirty work, do you have a paypal acct? I'll just pay you the money for both pieces and get you to shoot them down to me?
