Default 1973 Evinrude Brochure Cover

I thought it was cool that Evinrude used this boat on the cover.

what model is this, This looks like my exact one. that thing was scary fast with a 70 hp when i put the 135 on it, it took every bit of concentration to keep it from doing a back flip on take off.

I did not have power trim so I always set it for speed which made take off very light in the bow.

Do we have speed vs model and hp on this site.

That's a 14ss. Very heavy hull for its size and handles really well considering.
I had a 90 horse I6 which ran mid-40s and an OMC 120 looper that would run upper 50s. The looper was heavy for that boat. Ideally you'd want a V4 crossflow, or I6. Lots of great info on this site about anything Sidewinder.

My first winder was a 14SS. I also had an inline 6 (90hp)... I mounted the motor high and with a 23p prop I think I did about 52mph. I miss that boat. It was well built, extremely solid and handled better than anything of its comparible size.
