sure would like an idea of what the seat back looks like under that vinyl, hopefully the local upholstry guy has an idea.

also, it looks like the seats were bolted to the inside rail/gunwale at one time, does anyone know if thats how it was done at the factory or was something done later with this boat. see holes above

My Tahiti's seats are bolted to the gunwhale like that.

thanks guys, sure seems like it would add unneeded stress to the gunwales, not sure i will bolt em back, i mean if ya put buckets in there they wouldnt bolt to it. who knows.

boat title/reg says it is a 74? anderson california was on the sidewinder logo plates on the side of the boat.

I don't think bolting the seat backs to the gunnel causes any stress. I believe it was done to stop the the seats from vibrating against the gunnels, and maybe to stiffen up the seats too.

the gel was cracked on both my gunwales right in the middle of the bolts but coulda been caused by something else, just dont want it to happen after paint this time!

That's easy, it's a 73. The last two numbers are the year of manufacture. The first 3 letters (SWM) indicates Sidewinder Marine, Anderson California. Mines a 1985, ZGM, which is California Glass and Marine, Aurora, Ontario, Canada
