Default Fibertron

Have you guys heard of this Sidewinder Clone...Fibertron...

Where were these boats made..they have a Big pad on the bottom..and a reinforced bow deck area..you can stand on It..They have a factory foot pedal set-up with a full width foot rest stringer support set-up..

So the story goes..I am ripping out my floors on my 100 dollar Sidewinder..almost done the demolition, to start the rebuild of the floors and transom..along comes this boat.. 15 ft Fibertron..Original perfect floors, Original Perfect Transom, Original perfect paint, and cheap..I just sold the motor for what I paid for the boat and Shorelander trailer..

Why are these boats so cheap..

Because they're plentiful, most were built 40+ years ago, and if they haven't already been worked on then they need to be.

Ask yourself this Simcoe: Why did 30 some builders outright copy the hull?

If you feel you neeUd to spend more $$ on one, I know where there's a nicely overpriced 14ss...

All I can find out is that they were a clone. Some versions had a big wing (like an old Plymouth Superbird), from what I can find these were on the SS clones. Here's a pic of a 15' Fibertron clone.

Holy Crap Bill..That is the exact boat, colour and all..Yes I saw the 10,000.00 boat..well..Let's, wish him best of luck..as it will bring up the re-sale value for the rest of us..

I bought this boat, trailer, motor for 800.00 dollars..and it's a 8 out of a 10..Has a new shorelander trailer..9 out of a 10..and the Johnson..I sold the Johnson the same weekend for 800.00..Free boat and trailer.. This boat has been stored inside It's whole life..no question

I am just not used to this, owning both a Charger and J craft..The Winders may be a bit heavier, but in my opinion, they are better built than the other two..and my Charger just sold for 12,000.00 dollars..all original, I owned it since new with a Xr2 150..I sold the boat with the 2.4..kept the Xr2..

I just do not understand why Winders are so inexpensive..

Im really not seeing the issue....

Cool looking boat, good quality, ok speed, great price, open canvas for whatever you want to do (look at Blash's boat).......
All I hear is complaining. Enjoy your winder!!!!!

Lightbulb Re: Fibertron

Now that is one hell of a deal!! I paid $3400 for my SS, original interior and exterior, rebuilt motor, not even broke in, I thought that was a deal. And, to me it was. Yours is just better!!

As to why they are cheap, I have no real idea. Maybe cause they are plentiful (between the real ones and the clones), and they are not really 'fast' boats. How many people really water ski anymore? Not many that I see on my lake, now they are out with the wakeboard boats. As for speed, you need an STV, Hydrostream, or similar. These are light, special purpose boats, and not in the same class as our 'Winders. Our boats are more versatile, as far as I'm concerned, and tougher!! I had mine out in waves where the other 'fast' boats wouldn't try and run with me, cause it was so rough. The 'Winder just plowed through at 60 mph.

Just because you found a great deal, doesn't mean that they all cheap. I've seen beat up 16 footers for ridiculous prices (I'm not including the 10,000 one..that's way over the top) just "because it's a Sidewinder". So, take the great deal, bolt on a motor, and enjoy!!

ps...I found that Fibertron boat picture in an old post on S & F.

Lets not forget that Fibertron added that slick little windscreen as well.

I agree, I love the windshield..I hated the one on my Charger, just did not look right..

It looks like Fibertron, fixed a few issues with the Sidewinder..First off, the pad is 16 inches wide, not 10 inches, and extends far forward..

It has a external width stringer, foot rest with factory foot throttle.. The front deck is concave and supported so you can stand, lay on it..

It has a proper, forward facing rear seat, that folds down to a sun lounge..instead of the back to back seats..

It has a snap in carpet instead of glued..

The rub-rail is thick rubber instead of stainless steel..even though the Sidewinder..Stainless looks better when new and perfect..If you use it as I do..the S/S gets pretty hacked up fast..

Other than these changes..It is a exact copy of the 15 ft sidewinder..
